Events
Mary & Kenny Kimball have numerous events at Ropes End Ranch each year. Their Ropes End Ranch dressage camps this summer are Traditional Dressage Camp, July 13-15,2018 and Cowboy Dressage Camp, August 10-12,2018.
Traditional and Cowboy Dressage Camps
Mary and Kenny hold two 3-day camps over the summer. Campers arrive on Thursday night, get themselves and their horses settled in, (stabling is included) and enjoy a Potluck supper, while visiting with old friends and making new ones. Nearby motels are available, or pitch a tent, or stay in your camper.
Traditional Dressage Camp
Riding starts on Friday morning with individual lessons, and a longe line lesson. Longe line lessons in the round pen are indispensable for that perfect seat, and we will help your horse learn about side reins, or you can use one of Mary's excellent school horses if you prefer.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served each day, with yummy dishes like elk pot roast, homemade pozole, strawberry salad, and delicious homemade hot fudge and salted caramel sauce over ice cream.
Campers get another private lesson on Saturday, and Saturday evening a group lesson is held, so horses get to experience a crowded warm up arena. Mary has all sorts of patterns to
ride, and the horses especially enjoy the company of their new friends
On Sunday, July 15th, the IDEA approved League Show starts early to accommodate out of town campers who may want to head home early. The focus of the camp is to prepare riders for riding
the new 2018 USEF Dressage Tests, and riders can pick whatever test they prefer; Mary will help you decide and will endeavor to refine the presentation of your horse.
Cowboy Dressage Schooling Show
In 2016 Cowboy Dressage was added and it was much fun to experience the nuances of that discipline. For the Sunday Schooling Show, August 12, 2018 tests are taken from the website: cowboydressage.com/competition. Most campers choose to ride the test twice; with immediate feedback there is always marked improvement in their performance. The schooling show is open to the public at a $15/test charge. Campers ride two tests for free.
Cowboy(or Cowgirl) dressage camp this year will feature three riders in a semi-private lesson for one hour each day (Friday and Saturday). Then we break for lunch and resume with sessions on the obstacle course on Friday. Saturday after the group training sessions, and a delicious lunch, we are offering an introduction to Vaquero training with the garracha pole.
Sunday is a schooling show...a chance to put together what you have learned in camp. It is very informal, and everyone cheers you on!
